Welcome to W(h)ine to me

A little background about why I started to create this platform-I am a counselor and I LOVE wine! Voila, I give you W(h)ine to me! (Clever right?!) As many of you know and experience, life just starts moving and somehow you are a year down the road and haven’t done what you set out to do. In the past three years I have; married my wonderful husband, moved into three different houses, had a beautiful baby boy, adopted two dogs, started a real-estate investment venture with my husband, switched careers, traveled to seven different countries, bought my first car, and if that isn’t enough I am starting to blog.

This blog may not be your cup of tea, but I hope it can help motivate, relate, or create a community of individuals who may have similar experiences as I do. I consider myself to be a creative person buttttt I do have three half finished projects in my garage. I bounce around to whatever feels right. I have refinished furniture, made my own candles, learned how to hand-letter (calligraphy-ish), taken headshots, tried the MLM route (not my thing), pinterest how to recipe fails and successes, and have become an amateur interior design specialist for the houses my husband flips. I am still figuring out what my niche is~ if there is one. What if I am not meant to have one niche? Can I have more than one? Why can't I just be a real, honest, open person about my life experiences? I am not perfect, as you may learn through these posts but my hope is that you may find something valuable from it and to learn that you are not alone.

What can you hope to see here? Everything. Motherhood success and struggles, skin care, relationships highs and lows, house renovations, coffee addictions, pet-hood, my LOVE of all things WINE, and of course anything else in-between. Let’s see where we go from here.

Motherhood is trial and error

Motherhood {MaMa aka Mother} A person who loves unconditionally, protects and nurtures, caretaker & mender of hearts, Maker and Keeper of precious memories.      Nearly two years ago- I became a mother. I am not sure that words can accurately capture what motherhood is in just a few sentences or pages. I am one child and two years in and I could fill hundreds of pages with experiences, adventures, successes and failures. I feel like at this point, mentally and physically, I am just getting into the swing of things. Being a Mom is hard. I have had major challenges and successes and I also have hopes for my future as a mother.  So I decided to list some of the challenges, successes, and future hopes I have.       Challenges   The birth process     First, I don't think I accurately prepared myself for what exactly happens when you have a baby and for me, my son's birth story was somewhat- traumatic. I will spare the nitty grit...

How I learned from my anxiety and stress

Do you ever feel like sometimes you are misunderstood? Like, sometimes everything you want to say or communicated just doesn't connect with what you are trying to get across? Because same. It seems like, when times like this happen, it is a never ending cycle of disappointment and/or hurt feelings in my case. Stress is a tricky emotion that can cause physical tension within your own mind - and/or between you an another individual.  And nothing brings you more anxiety/stress than when you realize how many uncertainties there are in life. My life stress is often very intertwined with the anxiety I struggle with daily. The amount of time my brain spends preoccupied on hypothetical situations is honestly, embarrassing. While some people respond to these scenarios by trying to control their surroundings in order to try and achieve their desirable outcome- I am the opposite. I try to control none of it and 'go with the flow'.  I feel like while I in my 'go with the flow' ...

How to make a to-do list and follow through!

One thing I fall victim to is being the ultimate list maker. I make lists to make a list. I like many Mother's live my life through the lists I write. Often times, they are just a way to quell rising anxiety or to organize my shopping lists. They range from self-care to-do's to books on my reading list, baby names, podcasts to listen to, and long-term goals. I have never been into vision boards, so a master list of my goals- long and short term, are what is the most important to me.  List making is a great way to be productive, if you follow through with them. Many times we use them and leave them without completing them. In order to get the most of my lists, I keep them to about five to-do's per category. This helps my brain to organize what takes priority and where I should be focusing my time. Utilizing the idea of small wins so I can get that positive reinforcement for completing one thing at a time is crucial to my organization and achieving follow through. Small w...
